Your leaders are responsible for changes that depend on people across departments and professions working together. They want to improve how care is delivered, respond to new demands, and bring colleagues along when people are already stretched. They need to make progress without losing the trust of their teams.
Together, we’ll work on changes your leaders are responsible for now, from involving colleagues to turning decisions into action.
When a good plan isn’t enough
Your leaders may see a need for change but still struggle to move it forward. Colleagues may agree in meetings and then leave with different ideas about what happens next. Others stay quiet because they don’t think their voice matters.
We’ll help your leaders get change moving, turn meeting discussions into clear commitments, and give colleagues a voice in shaping the way forward.
What we’ll work on
- Knowing when to direct and when to facilitate. We’ll examine the challenges your leaders face and decide where expertise can provide an answer and where people need to learn together. They will look at who influences the work and whose involvement is necessary to move change forward.
- Moving from problem talk to solution talk. We’ll help your leaders shift conversations from what’s wrong to what they want to achieve. They’ll turn problems into “How do we…?” questions that focus colleagues on finding a way forward.
- Gathering perspectives. You can’t hold a retreat for every decision, and not everyone can make the meeting. We’ll help your leaders choose when and how to use surveys, individual conversations, and group discussions to get the perspectives they need, keep colleagues involved, and make good use of everyone’s time.
- Identifying fears and developing shared vision. We’ll help your leaders bring fears into the open to develop better options for change. They’ll build a shared vision that describes what colleagues want to achieve, how they’ll mitigate those fears, and how they’ll put your organization’s values into practice.
- Generating options. Your leaders will move beyond the first proposed solution by asking, “What if we couldn’t do that? What else could we do?” They’ll identify actions to take, questions to investigate, and work to stop doing. They’ll consider what happens if nothing changes, so colleagues can weigh their options before choosing a way forward.
- Delegating effectively. We’ll help your leaders delegate to develop colleagues and move work forward. They’ll match responsibility to readiness, whether that’s completing a specific task, recommending an approach, or taking ownership. They’ll clarify outcomes and checkpoints and identify what to take off colleagues’ plates.
- Turning decisions into results. Your leaders will identify which options to pursue as initial experiments and develop objectives and key results for each. They’ll define measures and milestones and identify directly responsible individuals and due dates, so everyone knows who’s moving the work forward and how results will be assessed.
- Adapting and sustaining progress. Your leaders will track what’s working, what’s getting in the way, and what they’re learning from those experiments. They will use those findings to revisit assumptions, update their shared understanding of the situation, and develop new options and experiments. They’ll build momentum where support is strongest, address concerns, and keep colleagues informed as the approach changes.
How we’ll work together
We’ll meet live online, combining short teaching with reflection, breakout rooms, and chat. Your leaders will bring a change they’re leading and work through it with colleagues. Breakout discussions will help them test assumptions, learn how colleagues approach similar challenges, and identify something specific to try next.
We’ll choose the schedule that fits your leaders’ needs.
What your leaders leave with
Your leaders will leave ready to bring colleagues into the work of change: finding a shared direction, taking action, and learning together as conditions change. They’ll help their teams build the skills and confidence to embrace and help shape change.
Who it’s for
Physician, nursing, administrative, and other healthcare leaders who are responsible for leading change within a team, across departments, or throughout a system.
Participants get the most from the program when they’re willing to examine their assumptions, share experiences, and try new approaches with colleagues.
